I headed into town where they have only a Wal-Mart and hit up the craft department.
Rainbow Road blanket
Scrap that. This pattern of starting and ripping out, and then eventually abandoning projects continued on for several more weeks. Finally, in hopes of actually completing a project, I decided on something easy; a simple throw-sized afghan, with only 1 stitch, and minimal color changes. I could do that!
The pattern I used was simple, the entire blanket is crocheted in double crochet dc , nothing fancy. Then you just print it out and follow the pattern.

I live in Arizona with my husband and our two girls. Read More…. The colors I used are bright white, pale green, and soft sage. Good luck! Keep me posted on your progress. Thanks again, Jen x. I bought one pound of each color, but used more of the darker green and the white, but really depends on how big you want your blanket to be and how many rows you end up with of each color. Hey Claudia! There is no formal pattern for this afghan, I just made the foundation chain and double crocheted each row.
At the end I chained 2 and turned. The border is just one row of SC and one row of DC with a slip stitch to join. Hope this helps! Why does a sl st need to be done? To join what? At the end of the row when you chain to turn, are you doing a sl st there? And why? Hi Lori! No problem! I used the slip stitch to join the border rows so that were the two come together it will lay flat. You chain 2 and turn at the end of each row. Hope that helps! Hey Jen!
You can find several helpful videos on changing colors in crochet on YouTube! Happy crocheting!
It depends on how large you want the finished project to be Kathy; I think I chained for this particular one. When you finish your first row do you chain one and just start the next row? Could you please email me the directions Thank you! Lonesomedove yahoo. Thanks Thover Bartlette. I have same question as another about turning a row. Is there a couple chains before turning to next row. Hi Jo Ann! Yes, as with most DC projects, chain two before turning and count that as the first stitch. That should help you keep a nice square shape.
I am about to start my first project, and I think this is it!

Any chance you could post your pattern? It is just so beautiful! Well done Kristine! I started to learn to crochet a few years ago, gave it up, and have only just started it back up again this month. Hi Alexis, thank you so much! Have a great day! Love the simplicity of this blanket as much as the overall look…very nice. Kristine, I just started crocheting also and I love the simple projects too!
What material did you use for this blanket? I really love the colours and how simple and clean the blanket looks! Now I feel like making a blanket for myself too. This is beautiful. I am new at crochet also. My question is the stripe generator. Did you just use like 4 rows per color?
Hi linda! I believe i slected only even numbers from 2 to I wanted it to look striped, not just blocks of color, does that make sense? One of my favorite blankets is all double crochets in stripes.. Would you mind posting the pattern with all steps listed. I am going to get back into crocheting and love the look of this blanket. It looks simple and easy.

Hi Kylie! Best of luck! Can anyone give me an idea of how much yarn to buy? I know there are a lot of variables but just a basic ideal would help Thanks been searching this site for days for any info. I love the colors you used for this afghan.
